This Privacy Policy describes how MetalGraph ("we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our macOS application.
Information We Collect
Analytics Data
We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data to help us improve the app. This includes:
- App usage patterns and feature engagement
- Crash reports and error logs
- Device type and operating system version
- General geographic region (country level)
This data is collected in aggregate and cannot be used to identify you personally.
API Keys
MetalGraph includes an AI chat feature that requires API keys from third-party services (Anthropic or OpenAI). Important points about API key handling:
- You provide your own API keys — we do not provide or have access to API keys
- Keys are stored locally — your API keys are stored only on your device in the macOS Keychain
- Keys are never transmitted to us — API keys are sent directly from your device to the respective AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI)
- We cannot access your keys — we have no ability to view, retrieve, or use your API keys
Chat Data
When you use the AI chat feature:
- Chat messages are sent directly to your chosen AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI)
- We do not store, process, or have access to your chat conversations
- Your conversations are subject to the privacy policies of the AI provider you use
Information We Do Not Collect
- Personal identification information (name, email, address)
- Account credentials — there is no account creation required
- Your shader projects or creative work
- Payment information — subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple
Third-Party Services
MetalGraph integrates with the following third-party services:
Firebase (Google)
We use Firebase Analytics to understand app usage. Firebase's data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
AI Providers (User-Selected)
If you choose to use the chat feature with your own API key, your interactions are governed by the respective provider's privacy policy:
Apple
Subscriptions and payments are processed entirely through the App Store. Apple's handling of payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
Analytics data is retained according to Firebase's default retention policies. Your API keys and local data remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Delete your locally stored API keys at any time within the app
- Opt out of analytics by disabling analytics sharing in macOS System Settings
- Request information about what data we have collected
Children's Privacy
MetalGraph is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
